I was born and raised in Mexico City, one of the world’s great urban centers. Growing up there shaped not only my education but also my outlook on life, which continues to influence how I express myself through art.

Living in such a vast, vibrant metropolis—where people from every corner of the country came together to make a living—was an awakening for me. It gave me a deep appreciation for human nature and the many ways people adapt, prosper, and coexist.

This experience sparked my anthropological curiosity: observing how individuals leave their places of origin in search of opportunity, yet still carry and preserve their cultural roots. Even in the heart of a modern city, those traditions remain alive, woven into daily life. That realization—the coexistence of change and tradition, individuality and community—profoundly shaped me. It is what connects us to the deepest parts of ourselves, and it is what drew me to art.

Over the years, my creative interests have spanned photography, painting, literature, music, cinematography, dance, and theater. I arrived in the United States in 2003 and began making art in 2007, primarily collage and mixed-media. My themes are varied, though my recent work has taken on a more political tone. In 2008, I had the opportunity to exhibit some pieces in a collective show called EMERGE, organized by Salem, Oregon–based visual artist Bob Dodson (ceramics/mixed media).

Today, I continue to explore how culture, identity, and human experience intersect through my art. Each piece is both a reflection of where I come from and a dialogue with the world around me—an ongoing journey of expression, connection, and discovery.

Artist statement

Growing up in Mexico City gave me a deep appreciation for human nature and the ways people adapt, hold onto their cultural roots, and coexist. That coexistence of change and tradition is what drew me to art. Since 2007, I have worked primarily in collage and mixed-media to explore how culture, identity, and human experience intersect. Each piece reflects where I come from and creates an open dialogue with the world around me.
